Monolithics comprise the full range of unshaped refractory products such as castables, gunning compositions, plastics, ramming mixes etc. Formulations differ from very simple to rather complex depending on the specific demands of the application.
In general, the monolithic composition consists of high quality grains, binding agents and additives. Gouda Refractories operates in the alumino-silicate field. Therefore typical high quality grains used are, for example: White Fused Alumina, Tabular Alumina, Bauxite, Andalusite and Chamotte.
Calcium aluminate cement is still the most widely used binding agent. However, phosphate bonded and colloidal silica bonded monolithics are available as well.
Gouda Refractories offers the Curon range as regular cement castables with a calcium oxide content of 2,5% or more. Low cement castables (CaO < 2,5%) containing ultrafine particles need deflocculating agents in its recipe and vibration during installation. In this respect, we present the Vibron range and Alu-Cast range for the aluminium industry. In addition, self-flowing castables (Flucon range) and castables that allow rapid heating (Velox range) are available. Apart from these typical hot-face castables, the Golite range can be applied for insulation purposes, while the Curas range encompasses the mouldable materials.
